Annual Events
- October
This is an opportunity for families to have a meal together and socialize. Families of new students are welcomed into the SunFlower community. Parents tour their children's classrooms and see what they have been doing in school so far.
- October
Each fall there is a Halloween festival with homemade fun and games. Family and friends are invited.
- November
SunFlower's way of celebrating Thanksgiving is to re-enact the story of Stone Soup, creating a communal meal for students and teachers to share.
- December
On Friday of the week before winter vacation, we meet at Casperson Beach near Venice Beach to look for sharks' teeth, eat a picnic lunch, and take a moment to enjoy the beauty of the season. This is a family event, with parents taking the day off work and driving down with their own children.
- March
Each year SunFlower students perform a Shakespeare play at the Catherine Hickman Theater in Gulfport. This is a very popular event and performances are usually sold out!
- May
The year ends as it begins with families coming together to share a picnic and to appreciate the great work that their children have done throughout the school year.
